In contrast, when a procedure is done in full, there is no need to use this modifier since the service was completed as expected. Similarly, using Modifier 53 for postoperative or preoperative care would not be appropriate, as these situations do not reflect the essence of a procedure being initiated and subsequently abandoned due to an issue that arose during the process.
